All nonhuman animals deserve at least one right -- the right not to be used as property and veganism is the step to taking that right seriously.
What is the most important reason to be vegan?
The most important reason to be vegan is that animal use in all its forms (includes "free range" "organic" ) is for trivial reasons of palate pleasure, habit, convenience, and amusement and that is morally unjustifiable. If we truly believe that animals morally matter at all and if we believe that it is wrong to inflict "unnecessary" suffering on animals, then we must be vegan because animal use is completely trivial and *unnecessary*.
Being vegan is much easier than you think and it will be one of the best decisions you make in your life. Live in peace with other animals.
